No Google Maps for Huawei, Signs deal with TomTom.

Huawei like other Android smartphone manufacturers have heavily relied on Google and the google services for a while now but the sanctions placed on the company last year by Trump administration have severed its ties to American tech gaints like Google,Microsoft among others.

Since the sanction Huawei have been barred from using services offered by Google and one of the most important service among them is Google Maps.

Huawei recently signed a deal with TomTom a mapping company to use their mapping and navigation services in its smartphones

A TomTom spokesperson told Reuters that the deal closed “some time ago,” but it became public late last week.

TomTom has previously provided data for Apple Maps
While Huawei have been working on its own mapping tool calle "Map Kit", it might use the TomTom mapping services temporarily or might use the data in its own mapping kit.

Though Huawei is still using Android which is open source, but the future remains a mystery.
There has been reports for long that Huawei is building its own operating system called HarmonyOS.
It remains to be seen how Huawei manages to provide services like Google but without Google.
